South Lakeland Action on Climate Change was launched at Kendal Town Hall on 13 March 2007. The meeting followed a visit by Ricardo
Navarro the previous month as part of a national tour organised by the World Development Movement.
Since that time SLACC has been involved in a wide variety of campaigns, protests and local climate change projects. If you want to help us
stop the nightmare scenario of runaway climate change then please come to one of
our meetings or get in touch. We are always in need of volunteers and helpers. For the next meeting date look
directly to your left or read below.
Aims of South Lakes Action on Climate Change
The key aims of SLACC are as follows:
- To increase awareness of local and global issues surrounding Climate Change and Peak Oil.
- To reduce South Lakeland's overall Green House Gas emissions and dependence on Fossil Fuels.
- To establish and support South Lakeland as a Transition District.
- To take every reasonable step to minimise the Green House Gas emissions resulting from the groups' activities.

Members of SLACC meet every three months in March, June, September and December, usually on the second Thursday of the month, 7:30 at the
Castle St Centre in Kendal. Anyone interested is welcome to attend these meetings. In between these
seasonal meetings are a variety of planning meetings related to our various projects and campaigns. For more details of these please get in touch at
